Update COVID-19 27 January 2021
27 January 2021 — Two hundred, and eighty-one (281) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4156 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases fourteen thousand, one hundred, and sixty-six (14166). To date, nine thousand, and forty-two (9042) patients have recovered, including one hundred, and eighty-one (181) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four thousand, nine hundred, and forty-one (4941) and one hundred, and eighty-three (183) deaths. The 2 new deaths are all female, one of 66 years in Kigali, another of 66 years old in Huye District.
The new cases are in Kigali (177), Kayonza (15), Gicumbi (12), Nyamagabe (11), Huye (10), Kirehe (9), Nyanza (8), Gatsibo (7), Gakenke (5), Musanze (5), Ruhango (4), Muhanga (3), Nyagatare (3), Kamonyi (3), Rwamagana (2), Karongi (2), Rulindo (2), Gisagara (2), and Ngoma (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.
The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
